We offer the following restorative treatments:
A root canal is a type of endodontic treatment. Your dentist might recommend a root canal if the pulp of a tooth (the soft tissue inside the tooth) is infected or inflamed. This can happen if a cavity is left untreated. You could need a root canal if you are experiencing symptoms such as:
Most root canals take 1-2 appointments in the office. Your dentist will administer local anesthesia so you won’t feel pain during the procedure. Many patients feel immediate pain relief when the root canal is complete. You will most likely need a dental crown to go over the tooth and protect it long-term.
We know a root canal can sound like a scary prospect. So our restorative dentistry team in Rockaway Beach does their best to make the process as smooth as possible. Root canals are a safe procedure with a high success rate.
Dentures are prosthetic, removable devices that can replace missing teeth, making it easier for you to speak, eat, and smile. Most dentures are removable.
There are two primary types of dentures: full and partial. A full set of dentures covers your entire mouth. It’s best if you’ve lost most of your natural teeth. Partial dentures might be a good fit if you’re only missing a few teeth. It can take a few weeks or months to get used to new dentures, but they hold major benefits long-term.
You might need a filling if you have a cavity, or if you have a cracked or broken tooth. Dental fillings can be made from gold; porcelain; silver amalgam; or a mixture of plastic and glass (called a composite filling).
If you’re getting a composite filling, this shouldn’t take more than one appointment. Our dentist will numb your tooth, remove decay where needed, and clean and prep the space before adding the filling. We’ll give you instructions on the best oral hygiene and eating habits to care for your new filling.
If you’re missing a tooth, you may need a bridge. A dental bridge will restore your smile and make it easier for you to speak and chew. In most cases, a bridge includes two crowns on the teeth on each side of the missing tooth (called abutment teeth). It also incorporates a pontic — a false tooth that can be made from porcelain fused to metal, ceramic, or gold.
Most dental bridges last five to 10 years. As your dentist in Rockaway Beach, New York, we will reshape the abutment teeth in preparation for the crowns. We’ll take an impression or scan of your teeth to create the new artificial tooth. Finally, we’ll place the permanent bridge and make sure it feels comfortable in your mouth.
A crown is a type of dental restoration that is used to replace a missing tooth as part of an implant procedure or to cover a damaged natural tooth to help it stay strong. Crowns completely cover or encircle a tooth, and are generally bonded to the tooth with a special type of dental cement.
We regularly place crowns in our office here in Rockaway Beach, New York 11693. This process takes 2-3 appointments. First, we’ll remove the decay in the tooth and take an impression of the tooth. You’ll use a temporary restoration until the crown is ready. Then we’ll carefully fit the crown into your mouth.
A dental implant restoration is another way to replace a missing tooth. Implants are made of titanium. They go into your jaw to serve as the “root” of the restoration on top — which might be a crown, a denture, or a bridge.
Your implant will be embedded into your jawbone. Our dentist will use a local anesthetic to place the implant. Over time, the implant fuses with the tissue in your jawbone, essentially becoming part of your jaw. The restoration will go on top of the new implant.
We’re ready to meet all of your restorative dentistry needs in Rockaway Beach, New York 11693.
